Isatis root extract is a type of ingredient extracted from the roots of the cruciferous plants Isatis tinctoria L. and Isatis indigotica Fort.; or the rhizomes and roots of the Acanthus plant Baphicacanthus cusia (Nees) Brem. The root of woad contains Indoxyl-β-glucoside, Isatin, Indigo, Isatan B, Uridine, Uracil, Hypoxanthine, Salicylic acid, Qingdainone, Daucosterol, β-Sitosterol, Isatis B, C and D. It also contains plant proteins, resins, sugars, mustard glycosides, various amino acids and trace elements. Bacteriostatic substance against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Malangen contains anthraquinones and β-sitosterol.
